I did google his story a few weeks back and it is interesting.
I can see why he wants his company back..he has a long history of nuturing it from humble beginnings. And now it's hard to share..I get it. But I also see a Cuban/Hispanic man who benefit from laws and public fund$$$ that were set up to help give a minority a helping hand to succeed. Those laws were set up because of past discrimination against a minority. He clearly benefit and prospered from those laws.
What I see now from that same man is not 1 but 2 plans that at their heart highly discriminatory. POR #1 -Only those who can afford $50 ~ $80K minimum can play (maybe) and POR #2- Everyone is out except 2 people of HIS choosing.
What would Richard Meruelo think/say if he was back in his mom's dress shop and CALPERS had a (slush fund) for anyone except those of modest means? Or the Urban Renewal Fund said yes to anyone except those of Cuban/Hispanic decent? Would he think it fair? Would he think it right?
So my question to him is- Why am I being discriminated against in your plan? I don't have $5M?...I'm of European decent?...I don't live in LA? I'm a white male? I'm taller than he is? What?
This can be a win for everyone, including a guy who has forgotten what forms discrimination can morph into,...and no Army required.
