I remember prior to Opteron, they were taking forever to get their dual socket buss working for Athlon. They were using a buss from Dec if I remember clearly and for the life of them they couldn't get it to work right. Meanwhile someone figured out how to get Celerons to work in dual sockets and while AMD couldn't get SMP to work, Intel couldn't figure out how to turn it off. We had a great laugh about that on over on SI.
