I absolutely loved the first one. Oh I remember the wailing and gnashing of teeth when it was announced that Windows users were not going to be forced to pay $29.95 to buy iTunes for Windows. And the cries that it would ruin Apple.

As someone who, from day 1, articulated the case for making iTunes cross-platform AND free based on exactly this scenario, it is nice to see the actual testimonial showing the reality in at least one case.

I agree with the authors, this probably won't be as quick as some would hope, nor as dramatically sloped an uptake, but if Apple-branded products, particularly iTunes (and hopefully someday down the road, iPhoto), are in the daily lives of people, the ice will eventually melt and offer Apple the chance to be heard and a fair shot at competing.
