MP3 + voice recorder = EDIG?

fwiw, I always do a double-take whenever coming across a new MP3 player that also functions as a voice-recorder (VR). In my mind, EDIG was in the VR business before MP3 existed, so it is a logical and relatively easy addition and point of differentiation. IOW, it is easy to add if you already have the capability, but not necessarily a logical extension of the basic product, imo.
(Without doing a lot of DD) I would say the major players in the VR market share are Olympus and Sony. Olympus has not stepped into the MP3 business (as far as I know) and Sony is an anomaly.
