As time goes on, the barrier for competing chips goes down, because it gets less expensive to integrate current technologies into lower margin designs. Therefore, in order to succeed, IPF needs to be on the leading edge always going forward, or else it will be marginalized by less expensive solutions. Of course, the same applies to Power, etc.
