Good find Goodbuddy. Maybe that's what I was thinking of, but I'm sure IDCC teamed with NOK to develop wireless technology back in the late 1990's or early 2000's Damn, it's bad when the memory starts to fade, lol.

Here is a summary of Nok/IDCC.

Agreement signed joint developement of tdd effective Jan 1, 1999.

Joint developement lasted through 12/31/2001 and Nok paid a total of around 56 mil.

Nok paid an additional 31.5 mil for past royalty and a moratorium during the 3 developement years.

Nok signed a 2g and 3g license at the same time they signed the Joint Dev agreement.

April 26, 2006, Nok paid 253 mil for a paid up 2g license. They cancelled the 3g license, but IDCC agreed that they would not go back for 3g royalty. IDCC agreed not to sue for 3g infringement until Jan 15, 2007 which gave the parties a time to negotiate and enter into a new 3g license. They reached impasse and IDCC has filed suit in DE and an investigation with the ITC which is presently under appeal at the CAFC. The DE action remains stayed until a final disposition occurs at the ITC.
