Hummmmmm, I think we can all agree that "open architecture", and "standard components", can possibly, be interpreted in several different ways, by different decision making people. Perhaps IBM DOES consider their Power solution, to be "standard components". And wouldn't running Power on some variation of UNIX, make it "open Architecture"?
Maybe IBM wasn't as smart as many people on this thread apparently think they should have been, by choosing a Montecito bid, and instead maybe what they did, was the stupid thing, with a Power bid..... and lost :-)
