vineseeker,

I saw rumors of all this that you are saying...don't remember ever seeing it verified in print. I remember reports in the media both ways...OBO-1 commercial...OBO-1 not commercial. Even the news sources that I read were saying that they got thier info from some source...but not from 'the source'. Maybe you are correct...I just don't recall seeing a verifiable source...that had a verifiable source. I think I may recall Chevron saying that they thought it could be a billion barrel field prior to drilling...but I don't have anything I could produce to even verify that.

And again, all I saw were reports of rumors on this board saying that SEO and Exxon were in talks. Don't recall it sounding very believable at the time. Did you have better info?

Thanks

vineseeker,

This is all I could find in short order.

June 30, 2009 www.Platts.com regarding block 1
So far, exploration in the JDZ has been slow, with only one well drilled since the 2001 agreement between Nigeria and Sao Tome. That well was drilled back in 2006 by Chevron, but the well did not prove commercial.

The guardian...July 2008 regarding block 1

"Public anger was followed by disappointment at the oil drilling results. When Chevron tested its deep-water block in 2006, it struck oil but not in commercial quantities".
