"Really disappointed in the maturity level of some"...Then clearly, you really haven't been paying enough attention. The reaction was a slam dunk.

I'd be really interested to hear what benefit you hoped we would attain through the information?
How should I find it useful to know that 50+ people didn't care what my opinion was? If I changed my posting style, they'd never know, and then the 50+ who had me membermarked would put me on ignore out of boredome.

i would have liked the iggy function to be optional...like many of the settings that we can control ourselves. i think folks who don't want it shouldn't have to have it but the ones who don't care (like me ) could have it.

oh well.

Matt, can you make it so that the number of membermarks and ignores is incremented only when the membermark/ignore is placed by a premium member?

For instance, I'd rather listen to someone who has 100 peoplemarks, knowing they came from all premium accounts, rather than to someone who got 300 marks from a freebie/premium mix.

(Likewise, if I were an active trader who actually cared whether people listened to me or not, I'd feel better knowing there was no suspicion about the quality of my marks.)

And, once a premium member reverts to free status, or is jailed or fried, his/her marks don't show up on other people's profiles anymore. That would give a lot of credibility to the membermark/ignore counters even though the numbers would be lower.

It would help cause people to re-subscribe or sign up in the first place, too... So their votes get counted.

matt,
is there an issue with having fun on this board?
have you received complaints?
i see seven, of a collection of pretty bright bulbs endorsing it, here...
i say reinstate it..
believe it or not, my observation indicates a subliminal trend of behavior-control since its inception... a good one...

I notice you also added a feature when you're in your mailbox and click on a deleted post, it actually lets' you know it was deleted as opposed to you wandering around in circles for 15 minutes trying to figure out where it went. Thanks.
BTW, still would like to see a feature where your mailbox tells you what board the post is on. In this way we can just go to favorites and continue from last read if we want to as opposed to reading our one post and then having to figure out where we left off.

Great job Matt, although I found it funny that people were fascinated by the fact I had 74 ignores, I took it as a compliment, while others saw it as an opportunity to lecture me

anyway I think you did a smart thing

Matt, I agree that the maturity level of some over the amount of ignores feature wasn't to good. My thread was probably a major contributor for giving you reason to remove it.

IMO I wish you would have gave it more time as I feel all the chatter would have died. How much conversation have we seen about members marks? In my experience none.

I know on my thread many ignore others not because they don't like them but because they don't respect that persons opinion on the investment.

If there was an , Ignore on this thread feature that might have been better but a nightmare for Bob.

Well call me a big kid then, but I for one think it was a smart idea to get rid of iggy thing, Just another way for the immature to abuse something, I was getting iggies, and I wasn't even on the computer or posting, IMHO that was one big joke for the idiots!!!!

It won't be long before the ACLU gets wind of this and becomes involved. Clearly it is the rights of the visually challenged that are being ignored here at IHub.

Other than blind members randomly clicking their mice how does one explain the 5 ignores I had received?

Now that you have removed the "Ignore By" feature you have deprived those in need of their only opportunity to influence the discussion on this forum.

Shameful.
