I do not personally care if you shorted or not. The trouble with shorting a running stock like this is the potential loss is exponential. If one just buys a stock the potential loss is only what was invested.
Not specifically for you, just for people that may not realize the dangers of shorting. Having said that...sometimes it is best to cover losses before they get too big.
