I'd guess the person to whom you refer assumed the press release was for those with at least a passing interest in the stock, company, or compound (and therefore some grasp of all three-month old information), not just for someone who wanted to pop off about it on a message board. I doubt he thought that anyone would simply invent "protocol violators that made the results miss the endpoint" without any knowledge or evidence.
I accept your "it sounds like neop will probably be ok as far as nda filing" as a grudging and ungraceful acknowledgement that you were wrong, but it would be nice if you'd drop the grudge now.
