I know the Central Valley and I have been through the Salinas Valley many times too. Have you ever been there? You are so wrong that it is not even funny. No part of the 101 ever touches the Central Valley. It is called the COAST HIGHWAY (sometimes it's a Freeway).

I guess it is just one more thing to add to "the proxy list".

I misspoke. There is a coastal range to the east of salinas: the Sierra Nevada. But wouldn't that make all that land the central valley?

And you better recalibrate your protractor and measure the distance between salinas and Monterey. You might be thinking of castroville.
