Celeron M is testament of Intels marketing prowess. People dunno what they are buying and Intel loves it.

What do you mean? Celeron M is a wonderful chip. Celerons pre-D sucked, Celeron D is somewhere between mediocre and acceptable.

I get people that ask my how to improve performance on their
Celeron systems. I explain to them what Celerons are and that
the best way to improve performance is to change to Three Letters.

Celeron M is not netburst its banias and Dothon based and gives A64 notebooks a run for thier money, not to mention much better battery life. To this lay person it looks like A64 notebooks are competing with celeron M as they seem to be in the same price range, with A64 slightly more expensive, but Pentium M seems to be going into the high end notebooks. As for Athalon XP M , celeron M is the better CPU IMHO.
