The daily short sale volume report is the "aggregate" volume of short sales against total volume, per this publication by FINRA:

That would appear to be different than the "bottom line" suggestion in the post, i.e. a balance of short minus coverage for that short volume total. Since they state they can't track buy-to-cover, that would make better sense (to me).

I've been watching that BEDA situation with interest (on my watch list). Note, I haven't done ANY transactions with BEDA to date, and am not endorsing buy, sell, or short-sell, as such.

MCLN isn't currently on REG SHO. However, the heavy daily shorting of the stock is something all investors, et. al., should be carefully watching (IMO).
