Thank You "Righty" for starting up such an Important Board. Naked Shorting hurts so many Good Companies and Good People.

The Truth can set us Free. By the way, after studying some of Your "Conversations", I do Believe that You Must Have the Patience of Job. Any Hints on Developing Patience???? Even tho it is in my "Motto", I Find I have to Work On It all the Time in this somewhat Challanging World.

Step by Step, Patiently Tim

Came across this post and thought this would be a good board to ask to see if there was any validity to it. Just trying to understand since I have been seeing this regsho list being posted everywhere myself.
TIA for any information, or links that can explain this. -boz-

It is simply a clearing issue between MM's.
Good explanation from Overachiever:
All over Ihub some are crying "OMG the shorts, look at how many shares were shorted!"
Due to the new info released by FINRA Despite common sense saying otherwise.....

Unless you know what you are looking at, you shouldn't draw any false conclusions. Those are daily tracking numbers.

Until a security is delivered, it is considered to be technically short.

If I sell some SPNG today, it will show up as a short sale on FINRA records until my MM meets the buying MM "at the window". This can take up to 10 days. All you are really looking at is the sell side volume minus any flips or buy side through the same dealer. For example. If I buy 10 shares and you sell 20 shares and we are both using NITE and this is the only volume they handled all day long, the system would show NITE is short 10 shares until they deliver your stock to the buyer. Understand?

Stock is never delivered the same day you sell it. That would not be possible.

thanks righty....but daily short list is misleading...

lots of shorts hedge their buys with a short only to close out position same day but the short still shows in short volume for day. Bi-monthly is truer indicator of short position % of outstanding.
