Are the Coos County commissioner still intervening on Laidlaw's behalf. In this case, intervene meaning "in support of".

Definition 5a fits well. ANY town/city/municipality should intervene in any project that is being proposed in close proximity for them. What that means is the Berlin SHOULD protect its interests. What is does NOT mean is that the city of Berlin is trying to interfere with the proceedings with an effort to slow down Laidlaw Berlin Biopower.

Biomass is coming to downtown Berlin whether you agree with it or not. Its just a matter of time.

Are you saying that the new mayor and council can not get rid of the lawyer hired by the former mayor?

Apparently Matt doesn’t fully comprehend the significance of why the previous Mayor and Council hired this particular attorney. It is news to those that hoped the new Mayor would fire the attorney (not that he could) hired by the previous Mayor and Council. The new Mayor obviously supports the previous Councils choice of an attorney whose specialty is environmental issues and has a reputation of going after PSNH. Yes in this case I do believe intervene does mean interfere.

Yup. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/intervene
