The overall picture may be working against mining stocks in the short run. Gold seems to have lost it's momentum and needs to break out of this descending triangle. Not the easiest thing to do. Below is a link to a seasonal gold chart and an annotated $GOLD chart. As you can see, PM's tend to sell off in Feb-Mar - then go sideways thru summer. We are, however, in very unusual times.
