jj,

what we would really like to find out is how many processors were sold, but it is impossible to do so from this data. The reason is that when we have an "on order" quantity, we don't know how often the distributor orders, how often he takes deliveries, how long it takes to get the order delivered, and if the delivery times are consistent.

Thanks much for adding the price/percent column.

The reason I suggested to add percentage-change colums for quantities was to identify movements of sweetspots. In this respect, for Distributor #2 sum of inventory and backorder quantities would be more appropriate than either of the two quantities of the table alone - although it still lacks the timeline-dimension, pointing to trends.

Consequently, as Distributor #1 without backorder-quantities, the percent-change of inventories could be rather misleading, so it should not be added there.

K.

p.s: Do with it whatever you like. If that would be nothing at all, absolutely fine. :-)

JJ,

The updates look good.

The change in stock is a bit tricky to follow because the
outstanding orders change daily based on the purchaser and
the Disti. If the purchaser thinks the order may not get filled in a timely fashion, they may change their order.
Likewise if the Disti doesn't see enough volume they may not
fill backorders ('discontinue an item') anymore and the
purchaser has to pick a different product (usually a more
expensive substitute :( ). I hope this explains some other
people's questions. There also is the random adjustment to
quantity on hand when an spot inventory is done (I've seen it
on many occasions, not just on the usual quarterly basis).

Regards,
Mike.
