Smaller purchases that would not be worth making bearing in mind retail trade fees are either partial fills (one fee till entire order filled), or direction attempts from MMs (who do not pay any fees of course). Although some are from retail investors who are on a budget. Hey, no shame in that. Buy what you can afford is ok.
