Winsock :) , from all that I have read, (albeit not enough I'm sure) I think the FTC accusations are ill planned, and it appears they know nothing of the semiconductor industry, as an example, the compiler, this compiler is ued by Intel, it's sold by Intel, I know that no designer stealthly put anti amd routines.. it seems Intel is wrong either way.. and a line on a brochure!!! give me a break.. I can't help but think there is something else.

Dear Windsock.

The FTC “enforcement action” against Intel is threatening Intel’s investors. Several posters, who were not challenged by you, discussed the subject. Previous posters stated that the FTC is ignoring years of decisions by the Supreme Court. Robert’s post was illuminating the basis for the revolutionary change in the anti trust enforcement proposed by the FTC.

"It would be fair to blame or credit the Obama administration for antitrust enforcement by the DoJ but not enforcement by the current FTC"

According to this NY Times article the former chairman of the FTC, Deborah Majoras, had blocked the Intel investigation. Isn’t it striking that the former head of the FTC did not want to investigate Intel at all and now the FTC wants to gut Intel like an angler would his prey?
Also I don’t think it is insignificant that Intel’s comment indicated they were blindsided by the Complaint having said the negotiations had “progressed very far” and the Complaint was “based largely on claims that the FTC added at the last minute and has not investigated”.
