OT: I guess also I should have been more specific.
Firewall software is generally "scareware", they scare you into buying. Norton Internet Firewall has got to be the worst. Their Anti virus software is great, the Firewall software generally kills 90 percent of the systems its installed on.
I'm also not a big fan of AdAware, it seems to do a good job cleaning but never really stops you from getting it.
Spybot Search & Destroy does a horrible job of cleaning, but it does a great job of protecting you. You can get it for free, keep it updated and use the immunize function and it should be alright.
Spyware is a huge problem...on the other hand it makes me a decent amount of money so I can't complain :)
