Think about this for a while.. You read to try to get the understanding of say an abused person..

Ok you think you have the understanding of it until...

you are beaten senseless, your fingers are cut off one by one, your eyes are hit with a hot poker, and your testicles are branded with a hot iron..only then will you truly understand what a person goes thu.. Sorry to be graphic but maybe the words will grab your groin to understand the implications of reality..get my drift...reading just doesn't get it...studying doesn't get it..being involved gets it...and each experience is different.
