Universal Music, one of the record labels more important, has decided protect the own audio CD by means of a system of protection from the copy. According to vice-president of the group Vivendi Universal, not there are other solutions to the problem of the pirateria and the only way in order protect the rights of the artists is to prevent that the discs come illegally copied. The employed system and the method are not still famous, but it is improbable that the society of it realizes one owner. The choice could fall on the MediaCloq system developed from SunnComm and used also from BMG.

Universal Music, one of the major recording labels, has decided to protect its own audio CDs through a system of copy protection. According to the Vice-Chairman of Vivendi Universal group, there are no other solutions to the problem of piracy, and the only way of protecting artists' rights is preventing the illegal copying of disks. The system and method to be used have yet not been disclosed, but it is unlikely that the company will invent its own. They might decide to use the MediCloq system developed by SunnComm and already used by BMG.

N.B. (my note) Instead of "MediaCloq" in the last sentence we should surely read "MediaMax5". Otherwise it's fine.

Anyone know the date of that. Because they mention Mediacloq, which was the product two years ago. If not it sounds like good news.

Sting, where did that article come from? One thing I thought was strange is that they didn't name the source. They just said a Vice President. I've never seen that in a new article. I read Italian, so if there is a full article could you post it?
