No, the study didn't make those distinctions

To my recollection it was purely price-related to stocks with those prices and those movements.

Gottfried, if it's any help I remember this study being posted and discussed on Zeev's old thread on SI about 6 months (?) ago. But lacking a nice key word to use in a search it may be hard to find. Perhaps someone will have a link.

I agree that how the stock got to the sub $5 area would make a difference, as would its relative valuation when it got there. I continue to think that many of these stocks, like LU, VTSS, JNPR, GLW, Q, and others will have no choice but to do reverse splits to return to more normal price levels. Of course the problem there is that after a reverse split is done, it will only highlight the fact that they are still quite overvalued by any historical valuation metric, and they will start falling once again.
