Probably because TD Ameritrades Clearinghouse (Clearnet?) shorted the stock, JMO of course, lol

I've thought of doing the same thing, 100 free trades too!

Try to get an answer from Etrade on whether on not they can guarantee that they won't do the same thing with EXPH. Many switched from ST to TDA only to get cut off again.
