Even then that could be a view from Intels perspective...this report could be snake oil from one viewpoint only...Intels! If AMD margins are going up and they are selling their cpu's I don't see the whole picture in this...I would only be afraid if the long term trend was disintegrating for processor demand...

But the weakness they report about/predict is explicitly in the retail consumer desktop space, even HP and eMachines are mentioned.

Then tell me what the $4+ runup on above average volume over the last 5 weeks is all about. Why? AMD appears to be executing their roadmap, but there has been no "earth shattering" news to justify this run. Does somebody with money know something we don't?

AMD mentioned in the last conference call that retail consumer desktop sales account for much less of their volume than it has historically. Also, October is the weakest month for retail in Q4. November and December should be much better.
