The National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC) will hold an 11:00AM press conference on Wednesday, October 13 at the Hyatt Regency in Columbus, Ohio to inform the public about the background and motivation of George Soros prior to a luncheon speech the billionaire will give at the hotel.

Soros is speaking in Columbus as part of a one-month tour through "swing" states. He has spent or pledged $25 million toward the defeat President Bush.

NLPC Policy Director John Carlisle, leader of the Truth Squad, said, "Soros is a hypocrite. He bankrolled the groups that lobbied for passage of McCain-Feingold, but now he's pouring millions through the law's loopholes. He suffers from the arrogance of wealth."

"Soros thinks his money gives him the right to tell the American people how to think. Working families deserve the facts about Soros' past, including his criminal conviction in France of insider stock trading for which he paid a $2.2 million fine."

Soros also admits to having "messianic fantasies." He once wrote, "I fancied myself as some kind of god…If truth be known, I carried some rather potent messianic fantasies with me from childhood, which I felt I had to control, otherwise they might get me in trouble."

Says Carlisle, "Working Americans don't need this egomaniac with such a checkered past telling them what they should think in this year's election."

John Carlisle is a recognized authority on Soros. In his previous position at the Capital Research Center, he wrote a report titled, "George Soros: His Plan to Defeat George Bush." Go to http://www.capitalresearch.org/pubs/pubs.asp?ID=169. In September 2004, Carlisle's op-ed, "Soros Campaign $cam," appeared in the New York Post. Carlisle also discussed Soros as a guest on The O'Reilly Factor on Fox News Channel and on the Nightly Business Report on PBS stations.

The NLPC press conference will be held in the Madison room, located on the second floor of the Hyatt Regency Columbus.

NLPC promotes ethics in public life through research, education and legal action. The group sponsors the Government Integrity Project.
