He was a candidate in California recall election, whose only claim to fame was that his name resembled that of Arnold Schwarzenegger. People voting for Schwarzenegger mistakenly voted for this guy.

The same with Itanium. There is a desire for a 64 bit processor, and it is inevitable that some will mistakenly pick the wrong one.

Chipguy, please explain why, after all this time, there is less than 4100 I2 CPUs installed at the global fortune 500 companies? How many servers is that? Do you deem this a success?

HPC aside, it seems to me that big business is voting with their purchase orders.
