#576 RE: Torvecian #575

The Aug. 6 PR stated that the baseline testing was "about a two to three week process". Evidently it was more like a two to three month process. If it takes that long to get standerdized data off a factory built vehicle it's scary to contemplate the "schedule" they may be working to on the new hardware. My original best guess for the testing to be complete was around the end of this month. It now appears unlikely that we will see anything before the annual meeting, if then.
Having worked in R&D in the past I understand how unforeseen problems can arise. Still, the baseline testing was always pretty much a gimme. The fact that such a large amount of time has been consumed getting the baseline data is not encouraging.

Thanks for the quick spot, Torvecian! Someday you'll have to let me in on how to spot website changes so quickly!

I guess it's fair to say that this biases the latest survey. Given that the Tahoe testing hasn't actually begun yet, I'm assuming we're looking at another 7 to 8 weeks of testing. That puts a tight timeline on any potenial end-of-year deals. That last line "progress to testing" doesn't make it sound like they started this last Monday or anything.

On a more productive and positive note, the fact that this update links the IVT progress with Hybrid technology development could just be opportunitistic (as the HCCI WSJ CEO message seems to have been) but it may also create greater awareness out in the marketplace. We all know that Hybrids are the buzz. Clearly we are talking about compatible, and in fact complimentary, technologies. As long as oil remains in the headlines, technologies making significant dents into fuel economy will likely share the limelight.

It sure would be nice if there was a deal announced on Iso-Torque or Ice (or anything) between now and the completion of IVT/Tahoe tests. That would bring revenue, credibility and a boatload of attention from investors and investment houses that might otherwise be thinking that all these technologies are pipe dreams.

Thanks again, Torvecian!
