I see there is a disaggreement going on here. This is a rare case where both of you are right. Yes the people who buy today are doing so becuase they think it will be higher, even just higher tommorow.

And also true that maybe 25% or of buys are based on reported sales or projected sales which are important to many, one of you in particular. Buffet is one that mostly uses fundemental valuation to make his decisions almost solely. Others use charts soley. Both can make money.

I personally use both, and have got my biggest wins on washed out penny stocks that have a real business or are going to have a real business. Some understand neither and base decisions on myriad factors, sometimes just "feel". Even some of them make money (know some).

But a company like Apple in 2009 would not be $200 a share if they lost money the last 4 Qs. At the same time worthless stocks can have $100 mill mkt cap due to clueless investors plus insightful traders playing the supply demand only for stock aware its worthless.
