Eat it, you'll like it. It is called "gefilte fish", meaning "stuffed" fish. Fish (white fish or carp or pike) are ground and seasoned and cooked and made into "balls" or flat "cakes". Traditionally, a carp was filled with that ground fish and the concotion cooked (onions added to the broth would cause the broth to jellify).
