The Greeks didn't invent that phobia until after G. & C. Merriam published my pre-Funk & Wagnall's abridgment of Webster's New International Dictionary ... which may or may not have anticipated our neurosis-bound society. Thus humiliated, I availed myself of the link you so thoughtfully provided in anticipation of exceeding the limits of my erudition. At the cost of a single pop-up / pop-under / pop-over / pop-tart (hmmm, the last is probably the most appropriate) for goods or services I neither want nor want to hear about, I learned you were suggesting I have fear of cats (for which an alternative name invokes visions of bliss) and I can assert without fear of contradiction that it is not so.

Hep-cats abounded in my era, and, since their search for outrageous perversions limited itself to music (at least, as far as I know), I didn't hate them; merely decried their egocentric destruction of glorious swing.
