That is an interesting observation. Are you saying that you think this is a reason why they cancelled 4ghz? More likely a silver lining to a dark cloud, given the damage to Intel's image.

kpf, I think you are 100% right. This explanation gives Intel all credits back. They have to do that, and it's good for them they did it.

The 2.4 Ghz P4 is an extremely popular chip. Maybe it's not that much visible in US, but it is probably close to 50% of units in most of the world except just few countries. Intel can't write it all down.
