Cox Media and Time Warner Cable Agree to Interconnect Advertising Sales
Wednesday August 11, 1:22 pm ET
Cox Media to Reach 84% of San Diego Households

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 11, 2004--Cox Communications and Time Warner Cable today announced that as of August 30, 2004, the two companies will enter into an "interconnect" agreement that will allow Cox Media to represent Time Warner's advertising sales in the San Diego area. Cox Media is the advertising sales division of Cox Communications.

The interconnect agreement between the two companies means that Cox Media will interconnect San Diego's cable television households, which translates to over 865,000 homes. An interconnected market links the cable operators within one designated market area (DMA), making it easier for advertisers to place commercials market-wide, just as they would with local broadcast stations. Since August of 2001 Cox Media has represented Adelphia Cable advertising sales in San Diego, which accounts for over 66,500 homes in North County San Diego.

"This agreement is an exciting new venture for both Cox and Time Warner, and will allow us to compete on a new level," said Mike Miller, Regional Vice President, Cox Media. "The reality is that the landscape of television viewing has changed. Cable television programming offers strong and consistent ratings that surpass broadcast television and reach as many or more individuals."

"The goal is to make it easy for businesses to buy local cable advertising," said Jeff Fisher, Vice President and General Manager, Cox Media San Diego. "Cable is an important piece of any media plan, and when it comes to media-buying, one stop shopping is a tremendous benefit to our clients. This market consolidation will make placing commercials market-wide a much more seamless experience."

"Based on the success of interconnects we manage like those in Cleveland and Minneapolis, we believe Cox Media will have similar positive results with the ad sales business in San Diego," said Larry Fischer, President of Time Warner Advertising Sales. "Cable networks continue to gain in the ratings and selling across all cable territories in a marketplace creates an unbeatable combination."

Cox Media provides local, regional and national businesses the opportunity to place their commercials on more than 50 of the most valuable brands on television, including ESPN, TNT, Lifetime and Channel 4 San Diego.

GREAT NEWS FROM RB POSTER-->
To answer your question...here is a blurb from TTN (now The Q Television Networks) business plan...

"In mid Sept '03, by invitation from Adelphia Communications, TTN joined in discussions regarding the distribution of our network to Adelphia digital subscribers in 2004"

Earlier this month I was told that The Q Television Network has negotiated a deal with Adelphia. Although I was not given an exact date as to when the Q will begin broadcasting over Adelphia, I was however told that It will be in 2004. My guess is Nov, but that is just my HO could be Dec. (I believe this is why Frank is so confident in stating a .05+ pps by Dec)

Based on what I have read, Comcast will likely acquire Adelphia and their programming. Therefore, The Q will be broadcasting with Comcast. (However, also mentioned in the business plan is this blurb..."In late Jan '04, TTN commenced early-stage discussions with DirectTV and Comcast Cable for distribution of TTN")

Finally, have you noticed that the Q is setting up shop in New York. A majority of their JV's have offices in New York. Why New York? It has already been leaked that Time Warner New York is on board. What is not known is when will TW begin broadcasting the Q. My guess...we shall all know when their plan is revealed over the CC.
