Very interesting. At least somebody is working on the tech.

famly: Re: What is Adaptive Network doing for us?

Aye, there's the rub. My take on the 8-K is that Adaptive has been abandoned. Clearly they never delivered as promised. It is my sense that Adaptive used NVEI to fund development of PowerStream and now that it is complete, ANI either does not have the technical ability, or the interest in finishing an FPGA for NVEI.

I am very curious as to what HelloSoft brings to the table. They have two areas of expertise that could benefit NVEI:

1) DSP programming - It is possible, I suppose, that NVEI has abandoned the FPGA approach and instead is going for a programmable DSP prototype.

2) RTL programming - RTL, or Register Transfer Language, is a hardware description language commonly used for programming FPGAs. So, it could be that NVEI is looking to HelloSoft for help in completing the DPGA that ANI could not, or would not complete.

Its hard to say what this really means at this point. On the one hand, NVEI has partnered with a company that has genuine experience and expertise that is needed in developing a prototype. On the other hand, it would appear that ANI was yet another dead-end, and at least some portion of the development work has to start over. This reinforces and explains the timeline of end of FY05 for a prototype.

Of course, it could also be possible that this is yet another "redefining" event, much like the transition from Cu@OCx to Embarq. They tried to make Cu@OCx work, but couldn't. Then, they tried to make Embarq work, but couldn't. Now, they are apparently trying another tack.

Of course, this is all speculation.

VERY interesting! This is a company that is a player! Adaptive was taking way too long because there were no teeth in the contract (negotiated before Ketch got there, he'd like to remind us) and they'd already been paid. Now it looks like things are moving...

I just noticed that this was an amendment on October 11, 2004. The original agreement is dated as March 31, 2004. (?) Perhaps work has been taking place during the quiet period and since...

Now the increase in volume is making some sense. Monday and next week could be very interesting...
