Got you on this one.
I was one of the founders of the ARPANET which was the first Department of Defense Network. I also created the man-machine interface for the Internet so that a 4-year old could use it. A co-worker of mine developed the e-mail programs and system. Then, I lobbied for the Internet to be made public. Finally, I owned a minority interest in a company, CTI, that was well on its way to developing a superior artifically intelligent (A/I) search engine using our proprietary automated information controller technology. Unfortunately, our business angel, Fowler W. Johnston, died and his $55 million dollar line of credit died with him. Also, the INTEL community was and still is fearful of this technology. The issue here is over loss of jobs.
Our technology was so advanced (and still is) and threatening that Steve Jobs and Microsoft went on the attack mode. Steve Jobs called another one of our technologies, programming through a box, and the worst hindrance to artistic creativity. Incidentally, we had reduced programming errors through use of our A/I matrix to one in 250,000 lines of code. This means that if you bought a system developed through CTI's methodology, you would probably never experience a systems problem in your life.
Then, Microsoft told one of our marketers that if they carried any of our software, they could no longer sell Microsoft's. However, we reached a settlement which had the result of sales, but no profit due to high advertising costs.
