Tim: I don't see how lower R&D budgets would make AMD's and Intels technologies and architectures closer together. If anything if they companies have more money to spend on R&D they would be more likely to move apart.

I think if we fractionalize this market we'll all lose. Remember how it all started with IBM's standards (albeit not documented...)? You think this has changed?

My guestimate is mid 05 as I think AMD will prep Fab 36 for 90 nm production...AMD will then retrofit their older fab for 65nm at 300nm...I asked this question and everyone seemed to think the old fab can be fitted for 65nm...if thats the case it is a slam dunk...
