Not that it really belongs here, but soapy bailed pretty quick on spongy. I thought he would make it till Friday at least.
What is very interesting is watching the theater of absurd play out on the spng board. If soap mods over 60 personal boards (he's mod and assist, no one else need apply) would any of his actions start reverberating through the rest of his little community? He's already handing out mod positions...If soapy blurts that stuff out on a sinking ship board, would anyone take him seriously on any other board?
And the microcosm which is his relationship with Ihub. Ihub is all about numbers of eyeballs to hit the ads. More eyes, more money from ads. So, I'm thinking Ihub may think, more boards a guy has, more people to surf advfn. So, why not let people have hundreds of boards, it's on that persons own time and monthly 12 dollar or whatever basic membership fee is. So, this guy with a zillion boards is an asset to Ihub.
Well perhaps. But not in soap's case. Any person reading Ihub for more than 3 weeks and looking at soapy's profile could not possibly think that this guy doesn't do this for a living. BUT, soapy is a alleged non disclosed full time promoter. Wasn't there a fee to Ihub to do this? Did Ihub drop this charge? Apparently, soapy has tremendous exposure through Ihub with no visible cost other than a normal member fee.
If this is true, then soapy would be, in any other business circles a LIABILITY. And costing Ihub money.
Obviously, I'm viewing this from the front window so there's really no way to know whats in the back room. But mr soapy (ex spng) seemed like he was doing very good indeed on Ihubs dime.
And what's going to happen when people stop going to his boards?
I'm speculating this of course, but perhaps my spec isn’t that radical.
