My opinion is open sell orders, even way above the ask, are simple locates for shorts and MMs use them as a gauge.

Seems strange but I've noticed when I cancel open sell orders, the issues tend to move up within hours of canceling them, often after having traded for days and even weeks.

Now, as a policy I only place a sell when the market hits my target and then take profit at the ask in average to small blocks... make more money that way ;)
