A New York-based company will in the next several months establish its research and development facility in Johnstown, The Tribune-Democrat has learned.

Evermedia Biometrics Corp., based in Manhattan, issued a release Monday regarding a job fair the company will hold from 11 a.m. to 1 and 4 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 22 at the Comfort Inn on Theatre Drive in Richland Township.

The job fair is open to the public, and attendees are asked to bring an updated copy of their resume.

The release offered little other information about the company. Its Web site revealed that the biometrics company specializes in iris-scanning technology for identification and security purposes.

According to the release, Evermedia holds exclusive worldwide rights to license and develop iris-recognition technologies and has two U.S. and four international patents.

A source close to the company told The Tribune-Democrat that Evermedia is seeking space in downtown Johnstown to locate its offices. The company is working with Johnstown Area Regional Industries and the city and is considering several options.

The source could not say how many employees the company is seeking, but did say that the number of workers required at start up has doubled due to recent events.

Additionally, the company expects to be hiring a “significant number” of workers during the next year.

The types of skill sets the company is seeking are largely technical in nature or lend themselves to Department of Defense work.

Evermedia Biometrics is currently wholly owned subsidiary of STS Evermedia Corp. On Friday, STS Evermedia came to terms with Dynamic Media Holdings Inc., for Dynamic to acquire Evermedia Biometrics in exchange for 50 million common shares of Dynamic Media Holdings.

Dynamic is a publicly traded company based in Manalapan, N.J., that provides printing and publishing services. It publishes magazines under the brand name of New Jersey Home & Style.

According to Monday’s release, the company is planning to release more information at an upcoming press conference.

No date has been set for that event.
