Did you try & phone Mario ? If you get ahold of him ,ask him how his house is (you know a more personal type of discussion ) & then lead into other areas . Be nice to know if things are going smoothly since all the mess the hurricanes have left . You might sense whether he is weary from everything .If so it won't pay to get too involved .
