It depends on the process itself... incineration is obviously extremely harmful over the long haul to both humans and plant life but now there are alot of technologies that can seperate the ash from the combustion providing energy that is alot cleaner than if emitted from a plan landfill

Here's an interesting article on modern waste to energy. Not sure if it's something Laidlaw may look at but since the joint venture... you never know.
