If it weren't for "traders".....


....be that day traders or swing traders or whatever, the stock price wouldn't move. There has to be 2 sides to every move in price.

If everybody bought and held ( no selling) then who would the buyers buy from ?? How would the price change ?


Everybody plays a part in making markets. Individual styles are just that ....individual styles, chosen by individuals (or "groups" of individuals) in an attempt to make a profit.
