As I guess the matter, based on 09/23/2009 shareholder letter by DR and certain commentaries on this board, DR may have personally acquired a counter judgment against LGB. Let's imagine Slippery Joe sues Long Tall Sally's company in civil court for $100,000 and wins. Later, Sally learns Old Harvey Rabbit has an uncollected court judgment against Slippery Joe to the tune of $300,000. Old Harvey Rabbit has retired in rich splendor to Fiji and has written off the $300K debt owed by wily Slippery Joe. Sally personally buys Harvey's uncollected court judgment for only $30,000; a delighted Harvey considers it found money. Now, Long Tall Sally wields a great bargaining chip. So, Joe, who has long coveted Sally's company, drops his original demand for $100,000 and accepts stock in Sally's company as settlement. However, Long Tall Sally now holds a weapon against wily Slippery Joe which weapon is "ready for use" if ever Joe gets out of line.

Is this how it all shook out in actuality? Perhaps, perhaps not.
