Yes on the DP it does not have the capability to drill two wells at the same time. The Discoverer class rigs can drill 2 wells at the same time.

This publication from Transocean in 2002...

makes it sound is if the DP is not a "dual-activity" rig. Unless it has been somehow upgraded since then, but I cannot find any evidence of that.

"The dual-activity drillships are complemented by the
Deepwater Pathfinder series drillships, which have also
performed well overall. The Deepwater Pathfinder, the
world’s first drillship capable of working in up to 10,000
feet of water, is joined in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico by sister
unit Deepwater Millennium."

vineseeker2...I recall the article you mention also, I don't believe the DP has 2 derricks however, but it has dual swing arms or something similar. These pieces of equipment allow the work-flow to essentially be twice as fast, because the next drill string is being positions while the first is locked and loaded,

...this is not gospel however!, only what I think I recall reading.
