T - trades can be all sorts of things. sometimes is not "out of sequence" at all, but a pre-arranged buy that is executed at the close.
if a short were to do the same thing, cover at the close, it wouldn't be pre-anything.
when you think about it, this is a neat and tidy way to close a short. jmho!
