bobide1$$$: I think you are incorrect.

"My impression is that this testing is "just" an inhouse lab test according the specs of a telco.(simulation test)"

I read the minutes very carefully. The prototype FPGA-based device is considered by Greaves to be a "simulation" of the final ASIC device. In other words, the prototype "simulates" the final design, while allowing on-the-fly modifications. My understanding is that the prototype will be used in a true field application test - not an in-house simulation (different meaning of simulation).

In other words, the meaning of "simulation" is that the prototype is simulating the final product. It is not meant that the test environment is being simulated. This is my opinion, but I am fairly certain of it.

bobide, The upcoming testing with a teleco on their local loop is not simulation. It is in the ground real world testing.

The simulation testing that NVEI has done has simulated real world factors such as crosstalk, trucks driving over the wires, other utility lines nearby, and many, many more factors. Thus, it IS time for the testing in the real world on a live local loop with a yet to be named teleco.

TC refered to the testing this month with our "first telco partner" as in the ground testing. That doesn't imply to me to be a simulation.
