Stopped into one of the local CompUSA today. Met a new sales person. Young guy who is a classic excited Mac geek and knows what he is talking about. There was 40-50s something guy who was asking questions about the PowerMac G5. He was a potential switcher. I had to butt into the conversation. He was very tired of the viruses, the crashes, the problems with his PC and PCs in general. He had read a recent Wall Street Journal report (he said in today's paper - I didn't see it but did see the iMac G5 review recently), He asked about software. The sales guy very adeptly asked what he would use the Mac or a PC for. The answer was the Mac can do everything he needed it to do if he bought MS Office. I answered a couple of other questions and told him about the local Mac group that seemed to interest him very much. I had to leave and wished him luck.
I think he will be a switcher. I think if CompUSA had a G5 iMac available I would have been helping him to carry it out to the car.
I think the viruses and other PC problems are starting to really get to people. Apple has to start advertising the iMac G5 as much as they advertise the iPod (although they seem to be getting a lot of FREE publicity on the iMac at this point)
Apple needs to get those iMacs in the stores!
