I think his analysis does not take into consideration the constant flow of high tech and other skilled young professionals from other countries into the United States. In addition to that most high tech companies have now set up research centers all around the world to take advantage of local talent in other countries. This in turn has led to rise in income levels of middle class families which in turn raises their standard of living. According to John Chamber of CISCO, we indeed are living in a global economy and so are the corporations.

Conclusion:
Any analysis that leaves out global aspect of economy is certainly flawed. He mentions China as the next rising sun which clear indicates one of wishul results of so called global American economy.
