#3041 RE: Math Junkie #3040

Yes, that does make me sound stupid. Good points. However, one of the key points made by DeliLama (a yhoo and fool poster) is that there are two stages to a short attack. The first is a disclosure of the attack with vague and perhaps even silly criticisms of the company - the more stupid you sound the better - as long as you are loud. the short is keeping quiet the real grave-digging peice of information which really should cause you to sell - perhaps a serious scandal or criminal behavior. this peice of information is kept from the public until every last share available to short is shorted. The shorts want loyal longs to keep buying up shares, from them and/or to make more shares available to short. Once all available shares are short, the other shoe is dropped, as Zeev puts it, generating a second, more violent drop in price. Then, the shorts cover.

I am scared (i admit) of this second shoe, and perhaps I was a bit harsh in my post. But I don't know Bruce very well. Perhaps I should give the benefit of the doubt here.

I'm sorry Bruce, for accusing you. I was wrong. Please understand my paranoia and forgive me.
